Here's Russia For You

Monday, January 23, 2017

Hello, it's Vika! So, I just wanted to whip up a quick post for everyone before I threw myself into Royal Enchantress work. Who know's when I'll be available to write again so I wanted to get something out. I was thinking about how most of you will probably never see Russia's beauty so I wanted to share some photos I found on the interweb capturing Russia, my beloved country. If you would like to see the source of the picture, simply click on it!

Royal Russian Crowns

Friday, January 20, 2017

This post has been modified to be reposted for Vika Andreyeva. This post is originally from The YA Book Traveler.

Hi everyone! Vika here and I am here today with a fun post about Russian crowns. The crowns I've seen around the palace are beautiful and everyone deserves to have a little bling in their lives, even if it is through a picture. So, I hope everyone enjoys the post and beautiful crowns!

One thing we can say about the Russian Imperial Monarchy is that they had style!

The Romanov Dynasty ruled for over 300 years from 1613 to 1917 and the beginning of the crown jewels all started with the first Romanov tsar, Michael Fyodorovich.

Monomakh's Cap

Tsar Michael I at his coronation wore the Monomakh's Cap, BorisGudonov’s scepter and golden orb. According to Wikipedia: "Monomakh's Cap is an early 14th-centurygold filigree skullcap composed of eight sectors, elaborately ornamented with a scrolled gold overlay, inlaid with precious stones (ruby and emerald) and pearls, and trimmed with sable. The cap is surmounted by a simple gold cross with pearls at each of the extremities." (Source)

Imperial Crown

The next crown was Imperial Crown commissioned by Catherine the Great in the 1760s. I think this is the crown that we all think of when we think ofRussian regalia. It's SO GORGEOUS! And diamonds, so many diamonds! 4936 to be exact! The red spinel "ruby" was 398.72 karats, believed to be the second largest in the world!

Check out this video of the replica of the Imperial Crown!!!!

Nuptial Crowns

There are a couple more I wanted to show you because I wish I had been able to wear them for my wedding! These are the nuptial crowns. The nuptial tiara and the nuptial crown!

They were worn together go give us this look.

Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna (1882-1957, granddaughter of Alexander II) and Prince Nicholas of Greece on their wedding day, 1902

You'd think she'd be a BIT happier with all that bling, don't you think? Ha!

I hope this post was fun and informative for everyone! I will talk to you guys soon.

Hi! My name is Vika and welcome to my blog. This is just something small I started for myself. A little thing to pass time and share my thoughts on certain things. I'm the Royal Enchantress for the new Tsar, Pasha. Who now's how often I'll be able to post here but I certainly hope you enjoy regardless.
